Biography
“When things do not go as they should, they will go the way they go”
If you have three young children, things often go the way they go, not as they should. As long as the most important work gets done, the rest will come naturally. I’ve embraced that idea and it inspires my work as an MP every day.
Strength in diversity
Volt stands for a Europe in which diversity is seen as a strength. It is very important to me that we improve pan-European cooperation and help build a united Europe that speaks with one voice.
The big issues
Ultimately, Europe is what its member states make of it. As a founding member, the Netherlands has an important voice: the views we MPs share in the House are relevant for all of Europe. I am committed to unified European policy on major issues such as the climate and humane asylum and migration policy. European collaboration holds the key to the joint solutions we need, because the big issues of our time do not respect national borders.
Everyone has a unique voice
For me, politics is a means to an end, not an end in itself. That is why it is also important to me to spend time away from The Hague. I want to meet people from all across the Netherlands and Europe and listen to what they are up against. On top of that, I am keen to encourage young people to speak up, because they all have their own unique voice that needs to be heard.
