The Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry into Housing Associations is carrying out an inquiry into the structure and the functioning of the housing association sector. The aim of the inquiry is to arrive at an evaluation of the sector in order to make a contribution to the development of future policy in this area.
The inquiry covers a period of 20 years. The starting point is the further privatization of the housing agencies in the early 1990s. The committee is expected to complete its inquiry in autumn 2014. On Wednesday 4 June the committee started to conduct public hearings, in which several persons are being heard as a witness or an expert. These hearings take place in the Public Hearing Room of the House of Representatives. The aim of the hearings is to establish the truth, to clarify possible ambiguities remaining from the preliminary investigation and to give the public an idea of the events examined.
