Security and Justice Committee debates about drugs policy with UK parliamentary group

On Tuesday July 2, the Dutch drugs policy was the subject of a closed meeting between the Committee for Safety and Justice of the Dutch House of Representatives and the British Parliamentary Group on Drugs Policy Reform.

The Netherlands are known for its gedoogbeleid or tolerance policy with regard to the category "soft drugs". This is an official set of guidelines telling public prosecutors under which circumstances offenders should not be prosecuted. In the United Kingdom, the question arises whether the possession and use of illegal drugs should be decriminalised.

During the meeting, Dutch politicians talked about their experiences with and view on the Dutch tolerance policy.
