What does this MP stand for?
Three questions for Claire Martens-America.
1. What drives you to serve as an MP?
I believe practical experience is essential for making the right decisions. That may come from your education, from being different from the mean, or, as in my case, from years of work in the private sector.
2. What would you change about the Netherlands?
I want to narrow the gap between business and politics, because I am convinced that we need each other. We often talk about people, instead of with them. I want to speak with people before decisions are made, not afterwards.
3. Who inspires you?
I would have to say Neelie Kroes. She held political office at a time when that was far from obvious for women, and she was ahead of her time on digitalisation and digital skills for children.
