Debate about situation in Syria

The House will pay attention to the situation in Syria with an expert meeting on EU-sanctions on Wednesday and a debate on Thursday about the arms embargo.

On Wednesday June 12 the committee  for Foreign Affairs will have an expert meeting about the EU-sanctions against Syria. Minister of Foreign Affairs Frans Timmermans recently send a letter to the House with the Dutch view on the sanctions by the EU. They were recently prolonged for another 12 months. He also made clear that the Dutch government is against the supply of arms to the parties involved in the conflict in Syria. The arms embargo will be discussed in a plenary debate on Thursday  June 13.
