Presentation by the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry into Housing Associations of its final report ‘A Long Way from Home’

On Thursday 30 October the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry into Housing Associations presented its final report ‘A Long Way from Home’.

"The housing associations sector has gone a long way from home and has to be reformed completely." That is what the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry into Housing Associations wrote in its final report ‘A Long Way from Home’. Serious shortcomings in the social rented sector have given rise to incidents at housing associations, such as Vestia. Consequently, too ambitious or malicious housing association directors have been given ample room, for many years, to do things that were very remote from their core business: providing housing to people on low incomes in a simple and effective way. That is why the committee concludes that the system has to be reformed drastically.
